Monday May 17, 2021 10:39 a.m. – First hurricane of the year confirmed in Quebec, and filmed on Saturday, May 15 in Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean.
A resident of Saint-Method in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region had the opportunity to photograph the first hurricane of the year in Quebec. This was noticed in the early afternoon, around 1:30 pm, and fortunately, no damages were reported.
Thunderstorms erupted across the region and pea-sized hail hit northern Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean. At Roberval we also recorded gusts of 54 km / h.
Météo Chicoutimi founder Jimmy Desbiens sent the tornado video to Environment Canada who confirmed the phenomenon on Monday morning.
Surprisingly, this hurricane is the oldest in the past five years in Quebec, while on average the first hurricane arrives a month later in our province. Or June 10.
