From May 12 to 28, the World Hockey Championship will be held in Finland and Latvia.
The Canadian roster has yet to be revealed, but we do know that Samuel Montembolt will be part of the team and that Nick Suzuki and Martin St. Louis will not be there. Mike Mathison can go there. He will have to make a decision soon.
The last to not participate is Conor Bedard. Jeff Marek just confirmed it via his Twitter account.

This news was expected. The man does not need to brag. He will be the first overall pick in the next draft. regardless. I focus on “whatever it is.”
This tournament is the last chance for prospects to show what they have before they join the major leagues. But Bedard does not need to show his skills to anyone. On top of that, he doesn’t want to risk seriously injuring himself and potentially missing training camp for his future NHL team in a contest that means absolutely nothing to him.
In 57 games for the Regina Pats this year, the youngster has scored 71 goals and made 72 assists. 143 points in one season: nowhere near as hopeless. Bedard is truly alone in his world.
From second to fifth place in the 2023 auction is even more controversial. Stéphane Leroux also published his ranking today and, unlike the majority of experts, Adam Fantelli did not rank him second.
Matvey Michkov, Leo Carlson and Will Smith are all in the top five.
