Finally, the NHL coaching circuit is coming to an end. As of today, only the Bruins, Jets and Red Wings are without a head coach for the 2022-23 season.
Now, one of those three positions has been filled, when the Red Wings announced that Derek Lalonde, who was an assistant coach at Lightning, would become the new pilot in Detroit.
So Lalonde finds Steve Laserman, who he knew in Tampa Bay.

It’s been a while since we suspected one of Lightning’s assistants would inherit a key coaching position for 2022-23, while the names Lalonde and Jeff Halpern have been in circulation for some time. It was Lalonde in the end who got profession With the Red Wings, succeeding Jeff Blashill.
The wings We have a great squad made up of many promising young players, including the latest Calder Cup winner, Moritz Ceder. So Lalonde will have to lead this group to a good destination.
In short, we’ll see if Lalonde is the right man for the job, but Yzerman has plunged into his old yard to find his man. I can’t wait to see what he can achieve there.
