Dominique Paquet is not laughing. The comedian has sued his former manager, Sebastian Roy, for more than $50,000 in royalties surrounding the taping of his first show, we’ve learned. Newspaper. ComediHa! Also targeted in the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, the dispute revolves around the recording of the comedy show titled Dominique Paquet, which took place in January 2010. The recording was produced by ComediHa! a company.
After ceasing to represent Sébastien Roy in 2014, Dominique Paquet continued to work with the Entourage Group. During a discussion with Entourage executives, in 2018, the comedian and his company realized there was a problem with the revenue from his first show.
At the time, Dominique Paquet believed that his former manager and his company, Vaux du Roy, had agreed with Entourage to pay them any royalties. For its part, Entourage believed that the comedian himself received said royalties directly.
When he noticed during the pandemic that his first show was broadcast for second prize, and that new royalties would be paid without his knowledge, Dominique Paquet decided to act.
“Bad faith”
In his suit, the comedian is asking Sebastien Roy and Vaux de Roy for $25,125.72 “until it is completed, for the amounts Dominique has not received from Sebastien Roy and Vaux de Roy and from her comedian for the show.
Dominique Paquet is also asking Sebastien Roy and Vaux de Roy for an additional $25,000 “representing M’s fees.”H The reason for Yves Pippin is their many mistakes and especially their bad faith.
The comedian “asks Sébastien Roy and Vaux de Roy to cancel all rights to the show.” The court is also asked to order ComediHa! To stop paying Sébastien Roy and Fou du Roy “all royalties due for the show.”
Contacted by NewspaperDominique Paquet’s Entourage team noted that the comedian would not be making any comments “since the case is before court.” Her comedy! She also did not want to comment.
