Donald Glover will return to the role of Lando Calrissian in the movie, not the series.
Last July, we learned that Disney and Lucasfilm had launched development on a series based on the character from the universe star Warsplayed by Donald Glover in his younger version Solo: A Star Wars Storyin 2018. Additionally, the studios announced that they had entrusted production to actor Stephen Glover’s brother.
And this is exactly the director and screenwriter who actually worked with his brother on the series Atlantawho revealed during a segment on the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast, that this series will eventually be a movie.
“It will not be a series… At the moment the idea is to make a movie. There, with the hit, everything is a bit confusing,” announced the director, while Lucasfilm immediately confirmed the news.
When the project was first discussed in 2020, it was a miniseries directed by Justin Simien (The Haunted Mansion, dear white people). The latter was apparently unaware of his dismissal before hearing the Glover brothers’ involvement announced over the summer.
“I figured it out just like you,” he wrote on Instagram. “Donald is a national treasure. Glad he and Steven were able to move the character forward. I’m looking forward to. Going back to the roots for All Blacks.” Frankly classy’s reaction to a gesture that wasn’t classy at all!
