Last year, the city of Magog awarded a $550,000 contract to transform this heat island into an all-green site. The work was initially scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023.
In a press release, the City of Magog confirms that users can now travel on a portion of the pedestrian path using Brassard Street.
Developments will continue in the coming weeks, with full opening planned for the summer.
Among the remaining works, an irrigation system must be installed to encourage tree growth. The city also wants to plant seeds around the existing plants.
Update on Maurice Theroux Park
Rehabilitation work has also begun on Maurice Theroux Park, expected in the spring of 2024 according to the City of Magog.
A $1.4 million contract for this project was awarded in December 2023 to add a multi-functional surface for pickleball and skating, repair the baseball fields, replace play units and create a picnic area.
As with developments at Espace Saint-Luc, work will be completed over the summer.
