After their fifth double of the season in Japan, Red Bull have a 165-point lead over nearest rivals Ferrari with 191 points to score in the remaining four races (Brazil counts due to sprint size).
That means Red Bull will need a 147-point advantage heading into Austin’s weekend (191 points off 44 weekend highs) to wrap up the title chase in 2022.
This means that to bring the title back to Mexico, Ferrari must outscore its rivals by at least 19 points at the Circuit of the Americas.
Even if Ferrari (44 points) score a double hundred, Red Bull can finish 3rd and 4th with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez (27 points).
If Ferrari fails to increase its points tally, the Scuderia will only need a win and a bonus point for fastest lap in 2022, at the season opener in Bahrain.
