Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Chad Michael Murray will officially reprise their roles as Anna, Tess, and Jake in the sequel. Freaky Friday.
And those aren't the only actors returning for the sequel to this 2003 teen classic. Mark Harmon (who played Anna's stepfather, Ryan), Cristina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie), Hailey Hudson (Paige) and Stephen Tobolowsky. Disney Studios announced Monday that Mr. Bates will also be present during the first day of production in Los Angeles.
Lucille Song and Rosalind Chow will appear again as the mother-daughter duo who own the Chinese restaurant.
Disney added that the story of this sequel will have a “multi-generational twist.” Anna now has her daughter and future daughter-in-law. As they face countless challenges due to the merging of the two families, Tess and Anna, who swapped bodies 20 years ago, discover that lightning can indeed strike again.
The film is based on the 1972 novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers Freaky Friday, released in 2003, is the second cinematic adaptation of this same story. The first part was released in 1976, then a television version was released in 1995.
Freaky Friday 2 is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
