According to information gathered by our parliamentary office, a CEO will be appointed once the law is adopted, so that he can form a dedicated task force to deliver the many public transport projects currently on hold.

It will be a small team, 30 to 50 people, which is a very small number compared to the ministry's 8,000 employees.

The Minister chose this option, which other transport ministers had previously considered, to pool expertise in the field of public transport, speed up project completion, and reduce costs.

Important public transportation initiatives in Quebec have been put on hold in recent months, including the expansion of the eastern REM zone and the national capital's structural transit network, including streetcars.

For the Quebec project, the Legault government entrusted CDPQ Infra with the task of formulating recommendations on solutions to be developed to enhance mobility between the two banks. The Quebec Deposit and Deposit Fund subsidiary must file its report in June.

The minister is expected to present her draft law to Parliament next week.
