An American woman was killed and another injured when a US citizen attacked them Wednesday on a road near the famous Bavarian castle Neuschwanstein, local police said Thursday.

Police said in a statement that the 30-year-old was arrested shortly after the incident and a judge placed him in pretrial detention on Thursday.
