Television director and producer Stephen DeKnight criticized actress Gina Ortega, calling her “self-absorbed and toxic”.
On Twitter, the producer wrote that Jenna has the producers and writers of the hit Netflix series “The Addams Family” “out there.”
Mr DeKnight added that he loved Ms Ortega’s work but “life is too short to deal with people like that at work”.
He got swept up after the actress spoke on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard where she admitted she became “almost unprofessional” because she was struggling with material on the show.
Mr. DeKnight wrote in another widely shared tweet that Ortega should have addressed his concerns in a more professional manner.
“She’s young, so she probably doesn’t know any better (but she should),” he wrote.
“She should also ask herself how she would feel if those in charge of the program gave an interview and talked about her struggles and refused to do their job.”
On the podcast, Ms. Ortega said nothing about Wednesday’s character “made sense to her.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my feet on set like I did on Wednesday,” she said.
