Global warming phenomenon On Google Maps, fake images of Austria in 2070

(Vienna) The dry Danube and muddy glaciers… An Austrian non-governmental organization published images on Google Maps created by artificial intelligence in order to warn of the future that global warming may hold for us.

“People plan their holidays using Google Maps, and Austria is a tourist country, so we wanted to show what the climate catastrophe has in store for its beautiful landscapes,” Marina Hagen-Cannavale from the group Letzte Generation explained to AFP on Friday. (last generation).

Dozens of images of peaks, lakes and Vienna were created from real footage, then recreated by artificial intelligence and posted on Google Maps as if they were taken in the future, in May 2070.

“The deadline is not too far away, as those between 30 and 40 years old like us have a good chance of seeing with their own eyes,” confirms Marina Hagen-Canavale.

Agence France-Presse was able to find some of these images on Google Maps showing rocky peaks or lakes deprived of fresh water.

This time, the demonstration is only “digital” by Gil Liezzetti, who is known for attracting attention by doubling down on spectacular actions, such as blocking roads during rush hour.

Investing online now means being able to get the message out to “more people,” she summed up, “wherever people are”: “online and on the street.”

When contacted, Google was not immediately able to comment or say whether it would remove the edited images.
