Quebec government websites have been under a cyberattack since last night.
The Ministry of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs issued a press release on Wednesday afternoon to clarify that some government websites were temporarily inaccessible due to the computer attack.
We can say: “Specialists from the Ministry of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs as well as relevant organizations are conducting investigations and ensuring that the necessary mitigation and corrective measures are implemented so that the situation can be restored as quickly as possible.” Written statement.
According to the ministry, there is so far no indication that data held by the government has been compromised.
Among the sites affected are those of the Treasury Board, the Ministry of the Economy, Investissement Québec, the Provincial Infrastructure Finance Corporation and the Financial Markets Authority.
According to the government, this would be a “denial of service” attack, which causes duplicate requests and thus causes congestion on websites.
