Green space, 100% pedestrianized: DIX30 reinvents itself

The DIX30 area in Brossard is undergoing a renovation. Thanks to an investment of $20 million, the shopping center will now become a green space with 100% pedestrian accessibility, from the end of September.

The Place des Lumières, the main square developed in the early 2000s, will undergo a major transformation, transforming from a warm island into a green oasis. “We have removed the moving traffic lanes, making it 100% pedestrian. There will no longer be any interaction between humans and cars,” explains Carbonleo’s president and partner, Nicolas Desourdi, in an interview with 100% news.

The shopping center will be transformed into a green space, as more than 200 trees will be planted there. “It is the largest park ever developed by a commercial director,” Mr. Disordi insists.

For Carbonleo's president and partner, it was important for DIX30 to adapt to new habits and consumer needs. Making the site 100% pedestrian-friendly makes the place safer. “Pedestrianization of sites is very good. Heart rate goes down, stress goes down, the place becomes a gathering place and is safer.

In addition to the change of decor, new restaurants will be added. “We want to be the destination for all gatherings. It will be the place with the most beautiful terraces in nature and under the sun,” adds Mr. Desordie. All with the aim of “enhancing the experience of the site.”

Although many parking spaces have disappeared, Carbonlieu points out that the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) station is accessible nearby and goes directly to the site. “We encourage active mobility. I encourage people to take the REM and [à] Come to DIX30,” he continues.
