Patrik Laine has been talked about a lot lately.
Trade rumors surrounding him are rife and it doesn't take much for him to be linked to the Montreal Canadiens, because we know Kent Hughes wants to add offensive punch.
During a podcast episode Blue pocketwith Maxime Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse, the latter made a shocking statement to say the least.
When discussing Lin's undeniable talent, the two men of Blue pocket You've come to the (obvious) conclusion that you don't want to build your team around a guy like Len.
On the other hand, Latendres think highly of wool, perhaps even too much.
LaPierre asked his good friend if he would choose Cole Caufield or Lane and we can see that flexible She hesitated for a long time, before finally taking it CC22.

LaPierre then asked his question differently, wanting to know whether Latendress would take Caufield at 20, or Lin at 20.
There was no hesitation: his choice was Lin.
I understand the principle that we didn't have the same opinion about Len unlike today. Laziness hasn't been a factor…yet.
But Caufield, 20, had just cracked it all at the collegiate level.
He had 52 points, including 31 goals, in just 30 NCAA games with the University of Wisconsin.
He also played for the Laval Rockets in 2 games, scoring 3 goals and 1 assist, before being called up by the Montreal Canadiens.
And this is where we saw the real Caufield. In 20 NHL playoff games, with just 10 games under par for the big club, he has collected 12 points.
But on the other hand, it is true that at 20 years old Lin was already very productive in the NHL.
The second overall pick in the 2016 auction scored no less than 44 goals in his 20s.
Also, it's worth noting that going into last season, many started to have some doubts about Caufield.
After all, a natural goalscorer like Caufield, who earns nearly $8 million a year, should score more than 28 goals, even if he's doing well.
that CC22 Scoring 26 goals in 46 games the previous season did not help his cause, with almost every fan and pundit expecting Caufield to score 40 goals in the 2023-24 season.
But we must not forget that Caufield does more than just score goals. He knows how to feed his teammates, as his 37 assists attest to.

Additionally, his defensive game has improved dramatically this year.
Picking a 20-year-old Lin, over Caufield, makes sense in a way, but in my opinion, Caufield could bring more to the club in 2024.
