The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation announced on Sunday that it would request the exclusion of the Russian and Belarusian federations.
In this regard, the International Ice Hockey Federation will have to decide on possible sanctions against them, according to Darren Dreger, TSN hockey informant.
The Swiss Confederation is asking Russia not to organize the World Under-20 Championship scheduled for December 2022 and January 2023 in Novosibirsk, as well as the World Senior Championship scheduled for May 2023 in Saint Petersburg.
According to Gord Miller, also of TSN, Russian teams will likely be excluded from all events scheduled for 2022, namely the Seniors Championship in Finland in August and the Junior Championships in December.
The 2023 Senior Championships can also be withdrawn from Russia.
Based on what I hear, there is broad support for:
– Immediate removal of Russian teams from everyone Tweet embed The remaining events from 2022, including the World Championships and World Junior Championships scheduled for August and December.
– Transfer of WJC 2023 outside Russia https://t.co/26n0gIMshX

The World Junior Championships 2023 is scheduled to be held in Novosibirsk and Omsk in December/January. There is also the possibility that the men’s world championship, scheduled for St Petersburg in the spring of 2023, could be changed, but that decision may not come tomorrow. https://t.co/OQxKDs3IWr

In addition, the Swiss Confederation wants the immediate exclusion of any Russian or Belarusian holding official positions in the International Federation, as well as the termination of cooperation with the Continental Hockey League.
