Gabrielle Simard wanted to provide assistance to the CHSLD in Saint-Casimir in Portneuf, where she already worked with a private agency.

She says she fell in love with where she works, which means she's willing to drive an hour every morning to get there.

“I found my soul mate in my job,” she says. This summer I will be moving to a place very close to Saint Casimir where I work. It will be a big change, but I think it will definitely be worth it since we spend most of our time at work.

“As long as you can feel like you're part of a team, I think that's really important,” she adds. “I really don't regret my decision.”

Ms. Simard is one of 2,400 private sector employees who have made the leap to the public in the province over the past three months.

The CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale redoubles its efforts to recruit employees working in private agencies for the public network while the Dubé plan aimed at not having to use it goes into effect on Sunday.

About 200 employees have been transferred to the area, but there is still work to be done according to the Director of the Accommodation Component of the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale, Steve Vigneault.

“We certainly need these people to provide quality care and services as well as to keep our missions alive in all directions,” he said. On October 20, the use of freelance workers will no longer be allowed.
