Le Grand éGAREment was organized by the Tavarn Ty gar Association, Saturday 8 June 2024. Visitors were able to enjoy guided tours of the building housing the former station hotel, in Hennebont, which is now the third centre.
Built in 1863
“Which one of you can tell me the date and reason why this building was built? Does anyone have any idea what motivated it to be built? Think, look around you?,” asked guide Remy Pierre on Saturday afternoon, during the visit to the Tai Jar tavern which was a great success. This building, the former station hotel, was built in 1863, the year the train and SNCF station arrived in Hennebont.
An investment of 600,000 euros
Le Tavarn Ty Gar – formerly the station hotel, which closed in 2014, after 150 years of activity – is located at number 20, rue de la Gare, opposite the Hennebont SNCF station, after 150 years of activity – and finds its place in the middle of A desert of shops, in the station area that loses its dynamism. “2023 was the year of renewal of the area, with the opening of the bar and restaurant, after a very large renovation work worth 600,000 euros, in parallel with the development of the station. The hotel part, which is still under construction, is scheduled to officially open in September 2024. It is a work Commercial under cooperative status, managed by the Tavarn Tai Jar Association.
Short term rental
The Tiers-lieu building is now completely renovated with noble and environmentally friendly materials, and in September 2024 it will offer eight rooms and a studio for short-term rental since March 2024, and is open every Friday. “From 8pm to 10pm, special evenings are organised,” adds Remy Pierre, a member of Tavarne Tai Jar.
