In the worst of the storm, nearly 7,000 residents were without power on Wednesday.

The time to restore electricity is longer than usual in some places, due to the lack of an electric pole planting company in the area, explains Hydro-Québec's communications, community and relations advisor, Karen Godin.

The most significant damage occurred in the La Sarre, Palmarol, Polare and Makamik sectors.

Damage included broken trees, as well as damage to buildings, according to La Sarre Fire Service and Civil Safety Director Luc Gaudreau.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Michelle Fleury, violent storms at this time of year are nothing unusual in the region.

Furthermore, there are no weather alerts planned for this week.

Therefore, the region will remain within its seasonal standards and no rain is expected during the next two days.
