He was one of Donald Trump's advisers in the White House: Steve Bannon has until Monday, July 1 to report to jail. The Supreme Court upheld it last week. The right-wing populist ideologue was detained for four months after refusing to cooperate with a commission of inquiry into the attack on the Capitol.
He spent just over six months in the White House with Trump between January and August 2017. But Steve Bannon had his boss's ear. The two men speak on the phone on January 6, 2021: the day the president holds a meeting in front of the White House. The day he marches his supporters on the Capitol to block the November election results and Joe Biden's certification of victory. A Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry wanted to question him specifically for this appeal, but he did not appear.
The US right-wing populist ideologue was sentenced to four months in prison for obstructing the investigative powers of Congress. He denounces a witch hunt: “All of this has one goal: to silence the Make America Great Again movement, to silence grassroots conservatives, to silence President Trump… Nothing will silence me! This is not a prison sentence that will keep me. We're going. November 5th the Senate, the House and Donald Trump again as President of the United States. To win in an incredible landslide.”
The Republican candidate believes Steve Bannon's conviction is a tragedy for America. He accused Joe Biden of exploiting justice.
