All CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent employees received a letter on August 22 reminding them that it was forbidden to eat foods intended for patients, a list that the union considered childish.
The letter, a copy of which was obtained by TVA Nouvelles, is very accurate. It mentions several foods, including coffee, individually wrapped cakes, that are off-limits, as well as soda crackers and social tea.

We read: “Please be advised that any employee who consumes facility food is subject to disciplinary action, regardless of how they obtained it, as well as the reason given.”
Threats that do not pass, according to the Federation of Nursing and Cardiorespiratory Care Specialists in Basse-Saint-Laurent.
“It can have a childish effect. We’re talking here about health care workers who have had a very difficult summer,” said Joanie Dube, president of the union.

“It shows that the employer’s priorities may not be in the right places. We have other priorities on our side. We have a concern about retention.” [du personnel]”, she added.
For its part, CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent admitted that this message should not have been sent at all. The health network added that there is no reason to justify the message that was sent.
CISSS apologizes.
Childish speech?
For HR professionals, the message employees received was detailed and could be understood in a childlike way. However, for many organizations, ambiguity can cause problems.
“With this level of detail, it can frustrate employees, but on the other hand, if the rules are too general and not understood, there is also a source of frustration,” explained Annie Bouillard, from Réseau Annie RH.
“I received a disciplinary notice because I was told later [ce que je ne peux pas manger]I will say that it is not clear. She explained that soda crackers are not a meal.
