The red carpet was lit up. On Saturday, May 11, 2024, Jennifer Lawrence appeared strikingly at the GLAAD Media Awards, at the Midtown Hilton Hotel in New York, in a black dress with retro stripes, with a slit and an exposed back. To accentuate the vintage style, she styled her long blonde hair to the side, in a 1950s style.
In a completely different style, Uma Thurman walked the red carpet in a white flamenco-style dress, with a ballerina bun. Dress featuring an LGBTQ+ rainbow. The theme of the evening since the GLAAD Media Awards is rewarding personalities who work to get people in the community visible in the media.
Jennifer Lawrence's committed speech
Jennifer Lawrence was there to present an award to… [son] Favorite musician and great friend Orville Peck. During her speech, the American actress spoke about her love for the gay community, and narrated that she fell in love with a gay friend and that her attempts at flirting did not succeed. Most importantly, she spoke out about LGBTQ+ rights.
“Conversion therapy doesn't work, can you hear me Mike Pence? I said conversion therapy isn't real – even if you think it worked for you,” Jennifer Lawrence said, before shouting out the former Vice President of the United States.
“Amateur entrepreneur. Professional internet expert. Zombie maven. Incurable pop culture scholar.”
