Canadian hockey revealed the identities of the 22 players who will represent the country in the upcoming Junior World Championships on Monday. Joshua Roy will be one of three Quebecers vacationing in New Brunswick.
Forward Nathan Gaucher (Quebec Remparts) and defender Tyson Hinds (Sherbrooke Phoenix) will be the other representatives for La Belle County. Zachary Bolduc, William Russo and Jordan Dumais were not selected.
“We believe we have put together a group with great depth and talent that will give us the best chance of defending our gold medal on home soil,” Alan Millar, director of player personnel, said in a statement. The selection camp resulted in many difficult decisions, and we want to congratulate our players and their families. We can’t wait to see them proudly wearing the maple leaf in Halifax and Moncton.”
Riley Kidney and Owen Beck, who were the other two potential prospects at selection camp, will return to their junior club.
Eight of the team members who won gold will return, including Roy, Gucher and Conor Bedard.
Canada will then open the competition against the Czech Republic in Halifax on December 26. The Maple Leaf representatives then have a rendezvous with Germany on December 28th, and then with Austria the next day. Next, they will face Sweden to complete the preliminary round on New Year’s Eve.
