Kokot, a Quebec content creator with two million subscribers, is making France fall in love

The name Arianne Vallières or her nickname Cocotte may not mean anything to you. However, Streamer (or instavidéaste) from Quebec is one of the proudest representatives of the Fleur-de-Lys among the youth of France and the rest of the Francophone countries.

Thanks to her almost daily broadcasts of video games or just discussions with subscribers on her Twitch channel, the Coteau-du-Lac native's popularity has increased dramatically. On her various platforms, where she has nearly two million subscribers, we also find drawings, vlogs and travel videos. She knew how to charm her audience, 75% of whom were from France, with her raunchy sense of humour.

So what was supposed to be a pandemic-related hobby quickly became a career.

“After a month, I saw that it had become more serious and that I was actually getting the salary of someone who was doing something.” job “Full time,” she says in a phone interview. “It was the best choice of my life to get into this.”

Proud of her roots

Cocotte never wanted to adapt her accent or gestures to please her predominantly French audience. There is no question of leaving his home province to pursue a career on the other side of the Atlantic as well.

“I would never change who I am or the way I speak on behalf of someone,” the 24-year-old says. “If a French person doesn't want to force himself to understand my accent, too bad for him.”

An unforgettable experience

In 2023, it was spotted by the most famous French YouTuber, Squeezie. Soon after, he invited her to co-host GP Explorer, a celebrity car racing event. The race was watched live by more than 1.3 million spectators.
