Would you trade Cole Caufield with the sixth overall pick in the upcoming draft, if you were Kent Hughes?
Mathias Brunet posed the question to Martin Lemay yesterday on BPM Sports, and he sparked reactions today.
Colleague Charles Alexis Brisebois wrote an article on this topic this morning.
But Mathias also asked this question to NHL managers.
And if there are any responses on Plural :

Good point. The question to ask: Will Caufield have you winning the playoffs in two or three years? If so, you can keep it. If you have Matthew Tkachuk or Seider in your sights at six, you should think about it. I asked this question to the managers yesterday. You will be surprised.

There is no right answer to this question, because everyone has a different opinion about the situation.
My opinion is this: If Kent Hughes decides to part ways with a well-known player who has the potential to score 30-40 goals per season for the sixth pick, it is because he knows that the player selected in this ranking – he will have a greater impact than that. (Coffield in Montreal).
The problem is, it's impossible to know because drafting is far from an exact science.
It could also slow down the reconstruction process, and I find it difficult to imagine that Kent Hughes would want to go in that direction, after all the work that has been done in the past two years.
But on the other hand, it proves that there are some people in the league who still doubt Caufield.
After all, we are talking about a young player who must produce offense to help his club win, because he is not effective in the defensive zone.
That's why the term “one-dimensional” often comes up in discussions when we talk about it.
