The ambulance sent to the scene to rescue her reportedly crushed a 25-year-old Edmonton woman who was in medical distress, also injuring the police officer who was administering first aid to her.
At around 2 a.m. on Sunday, EMS in Edmonton, Alberta, were called to a parking lot near Whyte Street, where local police officers had just found a young woman in medical distress, the police force said in a news release, according to Police in a press release.Edmonton Magazine.
Except that while a police officer was providing treatment, the ambulance dispatched to the scene attempted a parking maneuver to place it nearby, as we can read.
Edmonton police continued: “While driving around the police vehicle, the complainant and the officer who was providing medical assistance were struck by an EMS SUV.”
English-language media said the police officer and the injured patient were taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on this incident.
