In Lion-sur-Mer (Calvados), the new joint venue Les Briques is inaugurated. First, the tea room on July 7, 2023, then the co-working space on July 10. For coloring, it will be a little later, Tuesday, August 8th.
At the origins of this original project more than two years ago, was a family of six. Katia and Jean Bruno and their four children: Basile, Emile, Felix and Pablo.
For a very long time, Katya and Jan, both teachers, have been thinking about changing their lives, dreaming of “preparing something about reception and accommodation.” When they spotted a townhouse to renovate in the village of Lyon, near the football stadium, they knew this was where they were going to put their bags.
Everyone has their own skills
Then the four boys, seduced by the idea of their parents, participate in the emergence and realization of the concept, each with his skills: Basile in communication, Emile, the architect of the project, Felix and Pablo, still students, at work and helping in the kitchen.
The name of the place, Les Briques, suggests several ideas. First of all, the founders, they are six, six stone, each in place to create this place.
The Bricks are also many activities that are performed simultaneously, one after the other and that will go together. “In the concept,” Basile specifies, “the community of life is important. On this basis the spaces were imagined.”
Work and live together
Coworking, which includes a small meeting room and 20 workstations, will allow professionals or individuals to work remotely. Shared living, where you sleep and share common spaces, for at least a week.
The entire floor is reserved for dormitories, sanitary facilities, common areas, kitchen and living room, as in a communal apartment.
Tea room and wood workshop
The tea room on the ground floor is open Tuesday through Sunday afternoon for breakfast and lunch, serving homemade cuisine made with local produce and as organic as possible. Suppliers are selected on this principle. This is Katya’s domain.
And finally, the fourth block, the woodworking workshop that will be put into operation in the fall, with an area of 80 square meters, to carry out projects at the request of customers, and to train those who wish or provide advice. You should know that Jan, in his previous life, taught at the High School for Professionals, Carpentry and Carpentry.
Our six designers were very interested in the environmental impact of the project at all levels: from the choice of external insulation materials, to the thermal study carried out to choose the heating method, through the recovery of stone from ancient buildings.
What are the prices?
All bricks will be opened in turn, because everything is not over yet. Co-working is open from Monday to Saturday at the following rates: 12€ for half a day, 20€ per day, 80€ for a week and 200€ for a month, excluding taxes.
Coliving, which also allows you to take advantage of co-working spaces, outdoor spaces, gardens and terraces, will open on August 8. It will cost 150€ per week, 700€ per month.
