Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw He announced the end of his career, in a video clip posted on Monday morning.
After suffering multiple concussions, Xu said, doctors advised him to stop playing the sport he loved and to listen to it for the first time in his life.
“There comes a time when athletes realize that their health is a priority and it is time for me,” Shaw said.
Fifth round pick – 139th place – from the Blackhawks in 2011, Shaw scored 116 goals, amassed 131 assists, and earned a 573-minute penalty kick in 544 National Hockey League matches.
He also wore the colors of Canadians for 3 seasons, after signing a 6-year contract worth $ 23.4 million in Summer 2016. He eventually returned to the Black Hawks after trading on June 30, 2019 in exchange for a choice of draft. However, he never participated in a full season in his second assignment with the Black Hawks.
