The Toronto Maple Leafs' upper management suggested during their end-of-season review that they do not intend to delay their process to find a new head coach.
Everything indicates that general manager Brad Treliving will put his words into action.
According to Hockey Informant TSNDarren Dreger, V 7-Eleven This is hockeyTreliving allegedly had meetings with Craig Berube and Todd McLellan. The former Blues pilot would have held talks on Saturday and Sunday with the chief executive.
Dreger says he wouldn't be surprised to see the Leafs name Sheldon Keefe's successor this week. However, he adds that we should also look to the New Jersey Devils. General manager Tom Fitzgerald has reportedly been in contact with the same candidates.
Dreger notes in passing that he believes the Jets will offer the head coaching position to their assistant coach Scott Arnell to replace Rick Bowness.
Berube was fired by the Blues in December, after leading the team to the Stanley Cup in 2019. McClellan was at the helm of the Kings, but saw the union fold in February.
