Timo Meier and the New Jersey Devils will resume talks about a new contract after the season.
This was reported by our collaborator to the athletePierre Lebrun during his visit to Hockey 360. He notes that the Devils would have liked to offer the striker a contract extension shortly after he was traded to the San Jose Sharks, but without success.
In 16 games since arriving in New Jersey, the 26-year-old forward has scored six goals and nine points.
Meyer is in the final year of a four-year, $24 million contract. The Devils are second in the D.C. Division, behind the Carolina Hurricanes, with 104 points.
LeBrun also states that the Columbus Blue Jackets are interested in trading their second-round pick who belongs to the Los Angeles Kings.
The Jackets earned a first-round pick by the Kings in a trade that sent Vladislav Gavrikov and Jonas Korbesalo to Los Angeles.
The Kings are second in the Pacific Division with 100 points in 77 games. Columbus is ranked 30th in the league this season, giving him a useful pick in the upcoming draft.
