Unable to reach an agreement with management, the Quebec-Lévis ferry workers will go on strike starting Friday morning. No boats will travel from shore to shore during the Festival de Quebec (FEQ).
The Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ) made the announcement in a notice to clients on Thursday.
The Société des Traversiers Québec-Lévis employees' union will implement the pressure tactics announced last June. The strike is scheduled to begin on July 5 at 5:30 a.m. and is expected to end on July 15, at the same time.
STQ has confirmed that Newspaper The potential strike would have “significant impacts” on travel liquidity during FEQ, which is typically a busy period for the organization.
Negotiations between the two parties continue. The wages of union employees are the main stumbling block in this labor dispute.
