Quebecers seem to have less difficulty paying their mortgage than anywhere else in Canada, according to a survey by Angus Reid.
The results of the survey released on Monday show that the majority of Quebecers (55%) do not find it difficult to make this monthly payment and that they have money left to cover their personal expenses. This number is well above the Canadian average (42%).
The situation is similar for those who rent a condo, with 36% of La Belle County residents saying they had no difficulty making that monthly payment and that they had money left to cover their personal expenses, compared to 26% nationally. Conversely, more than one in five Albertans report having real difficulty paying rent.
“There is also a difference between ages when it comes to whether Canadians own a home or pay a mortgage. Younger Canadians are less likely to own their own home, but there is a noticeable age gap at 54. Among those over 54, the majority say They don’t pay a mortgage,” we can also read in the survey report.
The investigation was conducted with 1,622 people, between February 11 and 13, 2022.
