The Government of Canada is investing in British Columbia to revitalize community spaces and boost local economies.
Richmond, BC, August 26, 2023 /CNW/ – Safe and inclusive public spaces and vibrant tourist attractions are essential to creating vibrant communities. It brings together people of all ages and abilities, supporting business and spurring economic dynamism. Throughout the City of Richmond, communities welcome residents and visitors to new and improved public spaces.
Wilson MeowThe Richmond Center MP, today announced a $750,000 investment in the Richmond Olympic Oval as part of the Canadian Community Revitalization Fund. This announcement was made on behalf of His Highness Harjit S. SajjanMinister of Civil Protection and Minister Responsible for the Economic Development Agency Canada Pacific (Pacific Cannes).
This funding enabled the Richmond Olympic Oval to develop a multi-purpose outdoor space that includes new sports fields, play areas and other amenities, including a fitness area, seating, entertainment system and lighting. Called “The Fields,” the space will provide community gatherings, encourage sports tourism, and create a hub for outdoor recreation programs.
Projects like this help communities and businesses in British Columbia welcome tourists from here and abroad, improve community welfare, create jobs, and stimulate the local economy.

With the support of the Canada Pacific Economic Development Community Revitalization Fund and other partners, the Richmond Olympic Oval has been able to continue to expand its outdoor sports, fitness, tourism and event infrastructure. The All-Weather Sports Grounds is a new outdoor sports and event facility that will attract sporting events and guests from across Canada and abroad. These events contribute millions of dollars to the local economy each year and enhance Richmond’s reputation as a vibrant and active community.
