According to journalist Darren Dreger, the Canadians are currently trying to strike a deal to acquire a right-hand man.
This news caused a reaction from Guillaume Latendres during “La Poche Bleue le midi” on Wednesday. The latter does not think Kent Hughes should go in that direction.
“I don’t want to look too seriously. I don’t want the Canadians to be a 0.500 team this year. I really want us to have the game plan in mind. We shouldn’t make the same mistake we did three years ago under Marc Bergievin. We did better than expected.” We’ve made deals and made bad deals like with Mike Hoffman. They’re artillery shells today.”
According to the former Canadians striker, the youngsters showed they could do the job and hold the fort while waiting for Joel Edmondson and Mike Matheson to return.
“Harris, Gohle and Kovacevic get the job done. There might be Chris Weidman, who is on the list, and I would like to see a guy in his place. I have no problem that we are not moving and the status quo is in place at the moment. I might reassess in a few weeks.”
However, there is a scenario that would force the TVA Sports hockey analyst to consider a defensive acquisition.
“If we pull off a real hockey deal where we are going to look for a young defender we can develop and join the group, then let’s get started. It’s just with the quality of the defenders coming in that I don’t see why we would rush to make a deal in the reconstruction season.
