The Canadian Correctional Service has confirmed that Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton was the victim of a “major assault” at the high-security Port Cartier prison.

The federal agency announced Monday afternoon that the injured inmate's condition was immediately evaluated and he was transferred “to an outside hospital for treatment.”
She later confirmed that Newspaper The inmate in question is actually Robert Pickton, who is serving a life sentence there for the murders of 26 women.
“We understand the importance of this matter. We are unable to release medical details,” adds a Correctional Service of Canada spokesperson.
The agency says Quebec security is currently investigating the incident and that the attacker in this case has been identified and appropriate measures have been taken.
Originally from British Columbia, Robert Pickton was sentenced in 2007 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years. Prosecutors in the case linked the killings of 26 women during the 1990s to Pickton.
His trial was one of the most highly publicized trials in Canadian history.
He has been eligible for day parole since Feb. 22, 2024, according to the Parole Board of Canada.
