Since returning to the game, Jonathan Drouin has been playing excellent hockey.
Since the coaching change, Jonathan Drouin has not been the player Martin St. Louis was hoping to get. He hasn’t scored a goal yet, but more importantly, he hasn’t always played to stay in the squad.
But it’s different since he returned to the game.
In fact, even if he doesn’t block the scoresheet as often (he gets an assist against the Ducks, but no more than that), he’s playing really inspiring hockey now.
And above all, he does it in the middle.
Interestingly, he was handed the keys to the fourth line when he returned to action against Ottawa, but has since made it onto his own and made his mark on a more offensive line.
St. Louis coach on Jonathan Drouin
“Since coming back from his injury, he’s been playing hockey the way we know he can play.
I’m happy for the team, but even more so for him.”– Claude Gillet (@Guillet_CLaude) December 20, 2022
In the absence of Sean Monahan, Martin St. Louis needed a good second place and currently, Quebec is in charge. It takes the pressure off Nick Suzuki, of course.
He’s played on the wing a little bit since he came back, but we especially see him in the middle. It’s become a little bit of a center that we hoped it would be in 2017.
Having more responsibilities helps him at the moment, but above all, it helps CH. This allows in particular to replace Kirby Dach on the wing from the first trio.
Inevitably, you have to be at the heart of the game plan after what was often a rewarding early season. Yesterday, at least, he seemed like a man in his place.
Jonathan Drouin who caused 754 spins and recovered 612 pucks from the same being.
The center position fits him perfectly.

Yesterday, in overtime, he made a great climb. He didn’t score and Colorado scored a few seconds later, but you have to be as confident about winning the ball as he did.
And you also have to be a good teammate to invite the opponent to dance… as was the case against the ghost on Monday.

Let’s hope we see him continue to play like this in the coming weeks. After all, it’s good for him, it’s good for the fans, it’s good for the team, it’s good for Martin St. Louis…
And that’s a good thing for Kent Hughes.
