Tesla owners love the new action button and are configuring it to do many things

This in itself is a small revolution from the immortal Discretion button that has been around since the first smartphones, so much so that the iPhone 15 Pro’s new Action button is on its way to becoming a real selling point for this new device that didn’t. It didn’t cause much buzz when it was launched last September.

For example, Tesla owners use this button as a customizable key fob to activate a range of commands, such as opening the doors, opening the trunk, or even turning on the air conditioning or heating before leaving.

Remember, Tesla cars are not equipped with a physical key fob and are generally controlled through the Tesla mobile app or unlocked using a magnetic card.

So, instead of the ring/silence switch found on every iPhone model since 2007, the new iPhone 15 Pro now has an Action button that can be programmed to perform a shortcut (function) of your choice.

While the button can be used to open the camera app, start a voice memo, or turn your flashlight on or off, Tesla owners use it as a key fob, all without turning on their phone’s screen or even taking it out of your pocket.

Tesla has taken great care to expand the digital functionality possible on a smartphone to replace the absence of a key fob.
