Last January, the electric vehicle manufacturer Pole Star announced new improvements to the Polestar 2 in 2024. Of this group, a new base version with propulsion benefits from a larger capacity battery, or 82 kilowatt-hours. According to the first Polestar estimates, the model should be able to travel 482 kilometers, but the manufacturer has just announced a more interesting autonomy.
Thus, the long-range, single-motor version with its new 82-kWh battery will be able to travel, according to the EPA, 515 kilometers on a single charge, a significant increase over what was initially estimated.
As for the version with two engines and all-wheel drive, it will be able to cover a distance of 445 km, which is an interesting increase compared to the approximately 418 km that the 2023 version can cover. For 2024, the Polestar 2 with two motors will favor rear-wheel drive for more performance, Which, according to Polestar, means more driving pleasure and, above all, power distribution that benefits from the offset of weight on the drive wheels.
“We absolutely love it Polestar 2 – This car is stylish and fun to drive. Our engineers have worked hard to incorporate important changes that really improve the whole car, and they’ve made it even better. “We are proud to see that we can do this by reducing our carbon footprint,” says Thomas Enginlath, CEO of Polestar.
more effective
Thus, the 2024 Polestar 2 will be able to travel 20% more distance, consume 9% less energy and recharge 34% faster compared to the 2023 model. All this is made possible by the addition of another large-capacity battery, new motors and new mechanical and software components. .
The manufacturer also took the opportunity to increase the charging power: 205 kW in the case of the single-engine version, 155 kW in the twin-engine Polestar 2 2024.
Issuance | independence | consumption | Shipping speed |
---|---|---|---|
One long-range engine | up to 515 kilometers | 29-32 kWh / 100 km | up to 205 kW |
Long range dual drive | up to 445 kilometers | 32-33 kWh / 100 km | up to 155 kW |
RPM review
Electric cars are often judged by their range rather than their overall quality. It is not surprising to see manufacturers trying to extract maximum autonomy from their battery. If, at a time when energy was sold, nowadays it is autonomy. So the 2024 Polestar 2 finds itself in a better position, especially against manufacturer Tesla.
