Do you know Maxim Tsyplakov?
We are talking about a player who has been playing in the Premier League since 2017 and is able to thread the needle. This season in Moscow, Tsyplakov scored no less than 31 goals in 65 matches.
He's been followed for a while, and the Maple Leafs' name often comes up when someone becomes a free agent and is in line to move to the NHL. In fact, when we look at the file, Toronto is the name that comes up the most.
Maxim Tsyplakov (No. 9) reportedly has 12 NHL teams interested in his services, including #Papersforever. Here are all of his non-empty net goals this season (plus some thoughts on who's in the expanded division)

elliot friedman, Along with the latest episode of his podcastHe confirmed the Maple Leafs' interest, adding that other teams were also in his path.
The only other team Friedman mentioned this morning (saying she had met the player) was the Canadiens. Did you know that team needs an offensive boost?
Obviously, it is not said that the striker will sign for CH. But since Jeff Molson's coaching is one of those interested, it's a file to keep an eye on.
Quickly, if I mentioned to you that CH wants to get their hands on a 6'2, 25-year-old who scored 31 goals last year in the KHL, we might think he's an interesting project. no?
Obviously, it's worth noting that from 2017-2023, he wasn't a great scorer. His best season was 10 goals and he had a total of 32 goals in six seasons in Moscow.
Did it go off for good this year? Is this more than an anomaly? who knows.
We can believe that clubs believe in him if he is monitored for several months, but we can also believe that we will have to be careful when signing him, suddenly the 2023-2024 season is just an exception or he does not adapt well to it. NHL.
It appears his plan is to come to the NHL since he reportedly turned down a qualifying offer in Russia. If Friedman says he might sign this week, we'll believe him. He knows what you're talking about.
A Sportsnet informant reports that clubs (we imagine they include the Maple Leafs, Canadiens and other teams) have kept tabs on him, gone to see him and had access to Zoom sessions.
Will Kent Hughes be able to sign him? And if so, is he a player who could slot himself into the top 6 on Martin St. Louis' roster in October? Owns.
