Fleuve Espace Danse arrives this week in Baie-Comeau for a creative residency that will lead to a show on Sunday, June 11th at 8pm, at the Parc des Pionniers.

The Baie-Comeau Center for the Arts is pleased to welcome the Fleuve Espace Danse from June 5-11.

This is a creative residency organized by the Fondation des Gestions de la Salle du Machete de Baie-Comeau.

Fleuve Espace Danse is a dance company based in the commune of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, distinguished by its works on location and videography.

For choreographer Chantal Caron, her primary inspiration is nature.

So she creates her work in places that inspire her and it is in these sometimes unusual places that audiences go to discover her.

As part of the residency at Baie-Comeau, the band will be creating a brand new show, Wood objects.

In this show, a tribute to the strength, power and beauty of caribou, this endangered species, the performers represent a pack that tames, moves and fights together for the survival of their species.

During their week at the Baie-Comeau, some activities will take place in addition to the show being performed at the Parc des Pionniers.

First, there will be a screening of two illustrated works by Chantal Caron on the big screen in the Theater Hall of the Arts Center on Thursday, June 8th at 7:30pm.

This activity, offered free of charge, will be followed by a platform discussion with Chantal Caron.

Then, the audience will be invited to a Sun Salutation workshop led by the choreographer, before performing the show on June 11.

In fact, from 7 pm the residents will be invited to the banks of the river, in the Parc des Pionniers, to take part in this activity that will also be offered free of charge.

Finally, the performance of the show Wood objects It will take place at 8 p.m.

Those wishing to attend the show are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets.

To receive this residence project in the region, the total amount is estimated at $22,203.

It is the company that undertakes all costs related to holding these events.

Financial assistance of US$15,000 to carry out this visit comes from the Conseil des Arts et des lettres du Québec, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Côte-Nord Migrant Resource Centers and Culture Côte-North.
