Owned by the American multinational Mondelez International, Toblerone no longer has the right to use its famous logo, because it will move part of its chocolate production outside of Switzerland.
Mondelez revealed last year that it plans to produce some of its chocolate in Bratislava, Slovakia.
According to the Swiss newspaper Arguer ZeitungThe company will modify the design of the mount so as not to infringe Swissness law.
The Toblerone packaging will now feature a more general, geometric and triangular mountain image instead of the famous Matterhorn, again according to Arguer Zeitung.
Toblerone packaging will now say “Swiss-established” instead of “From Switzerland”.
Under the Swissness Act, which was passed in 2017, country symbols and Swiss crosses are not allowed on the packaging of products that do not meet Swissness standards.
