The senses will find it hard to quit

Almost everyone in the hockey world agrees that it’s time for the Ottawa Senators to have a good season.

For several seasons now, we’ve been expecting the Senators to show us on the ice that their rebuild is really over.

However, each time, the latter disappoint and do not live up to the expectations placed on them.

The team’s general manager, Pierre Dorion, may make good acquisitions and good signings, but there always seems to be something missing in this team.

The problem was mostly in the net for the Sens, and I’m still skeptical about putting them in the net with Joonas Korpisalo for five seasons at $4 million a year.

In short, it’s clear that next season will be more decisive for the rest of things for Sens.

Take results, and do it as quickly as possible.

The team looks good on paper, but there’s clearly still room for doubt, especially given the fact that Shane Bento is still out of contract.

The attack of the synes is not the most profound, and thus Pinto’s signature is significant.

The 22-year-old forward had a fairly respectable first full season in the NHL with 20 goals and 35 points in 82 games.

These aren’t amazing numbers, but the 20-goal plateau is still big in the NHL today.

You get paid for scoring 20 goals or more.

However, it does not pay with $896,953. This figure is the current space under the Ottawa Senators’ salary cap.

Yes yes the lenses lean against the ceiling.

The signings of Vladimir Tarasenko, Dominic Kubalek, Jonas Korbesalo and Zack McEwen take up space on the wage bill, leaving the Sans with little cash to sign Pinto.

The Sens player’s entry into the NHL is over, so the latter clearly deserves a salary increase.

The problem is that Sens at the moment will not have enough to sign Pinto with the same salary as his entry contract, which is 925,000.

So Pierre Dorion will have to find a way to free up the payroll if he wants to introduce the Pinto contract.

This isn’t likely to be easy, though considering every player on the Sens’ current payroll is part of the plan and serves their purpose.

No player stands out as a logical filtering choice for Pinto’s signature.

So it will be interesting to see how Dorion manages this file to sign Pinto, who could net him around $2 million on his next contract.

Backup goalkeeper Anton Forsberg could be sacrificed, given his $2.75 million salary.
