San Francisco | Tens of thousands of Google services users reported an outage on the benchmark site DownDetector.com Monday night, but the issue was quickly resolved.
“We are aware of a software update issue that occurred late this afternoon PST that briefly affected the availability of Google Search and Maps, and we apologize for the inconvenience,” a Google spokesperson contacted by AFP said.
“We worked quickly to resolve the issue and our services are back online,” he added.
“User reports have problems on Google Maps since 9:36 p.m. (according to the US East Coast time zone, which is 01:36 GMT on Tuesday),” DownDetector tweeted from Monday to Tuesday nights.
In the US, more than 40,000 people reported to DownDetector that Google was not working for them at 9:20 p.m., including major cities like New York and Denver, Colorado.
This number dropped dramatically in the next two hours. Reports continued to reach, in smaller numbers, Google Cloud (remote computing) and Google Calendar in particular.
