Ayman Al-Dhahabi recorded K.-O. Barely a minute into his fight against Qileng Aori at bantamweight in the UFC 289 preliminary bouts presented in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Golden (10-2) sent Auri (24-10) to Dreamland with a header on the counterattack after a kick from the Chinese.
It was the first K. -O. into the evening, to the delight of Canadian audiences.
Golden’s win followed a stellar start for the Canadians at the event in Vancouver, BC, after Ontarian Kyle Nelson unanimous decision win over Blake Builder and Ontarian Diana Belbetta opening the show with a unanimous decision win over María Oliveira.
It was now a three-game winning streak for Golden, who went 4-2 in the UFC.
Barriault wins a tough fight
Marc-André Barriault defeated Eryk Anders by unanimous decision of the judges in the first fight of the main card.
The judges signed identical cards from 30 to 27, all in favor of Barriot (16-6-0) to confirm his victory in front of the Canadian crowd.
“It feels really good to be able to put on a great performance like this here in Canada. I couldn’t ask for a better evening out,” Barriault said in an interview with UFC’s RDS.
The first two rounds featured many exchanges and several hits on target, but Barriot especially dominated the third round to confirm his victory.
“I hit him hard in the first round and saw his eyes roll, but he got back on his feet and gave me all the opposition,” the Gatineau fighter said after announcing the decision.
Barriault received some criticism from the referee after hitting Anders (15-8-0) in a protective shell, but Quebecers were not penalized.
