American rap singer Young Dolph is shot dead in Memphis
The musician known for the success of “Major” was shot in the cookie shop. Police did not provide any information on the suspect.
Local rapper Young Dolph was shot dead Wednesday while in a cookie shop in Memphis, Tennessee, local officials said.
“At 12:24 pm on November 17, 2021, Memphis police were called to the scene of the shooting and” a male victim was found and pronounced dead at the scene, “Memphis said in a statement. Preliminary reports suggest the victim was “Adolf Robert Thornton Jr.”, who was better known by his pseudonym Young Dolph, officials said.
Chicago-born Dolph, 36, who grew up in Memphis, broke into a macadam cookie shop where he had his habits, when an armed man emerged and shot him, local news outlets reported.
Police said they have not received any information about the suspect so far.
Condolences
The rapper made a name for himself with hits such as “Major” and his album “Rich Slave” released in 2020, which quickly topped the Billboard 200 charts.
The artist escaped two shootings in 2017: one in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his car was hit by a hundred shots, according to American media; Another was hit by three bullets in Los Angeles.
Many celebrities in the rap world have expressed their condolences on social media, with American rapper Gucci Mane saying he is “extinct”.
