The Ville.Science project aims to paint a personal picture of the use of digital data by municipalities in Quebec. In a context where digital technology is increasingly becoming essential in the work of public administration, it is essential to document and understand how digital data is used, controlled and managed.
The first data collection provided access to 243 respondents from 176 municipalities and 16 boroughs of Quebec. This first picture shows the differences in the practices of municipalities according to their size, the importance given to the security and protection of sensitive data, as well as the need to set up supports and frameworks for the collection, storage, use and management of digital data. Municipal data.
This project was implemented in collaboration with the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology (OBVIA) and the Quebec Office of the Chief Scientist. This project is inspired by the national survey on the use of digital data by local public actors conducted by Observatory DataPublica in France.
