Vincent Lecavalier has heard the criticism: he woke up in Laval

Vincent Lecavalier appears to have finally woken up in Montreal, ready to take on a more active role within the Canadiens organization.

“Lecavalier was present during interviews with candidates for the vacant coaching position in Laval.” Sports journalist Arpun Basu writes.

“Could this mean a bigger role or more responsibilities for Le Cavalier?”

Although he was very present during the interviews for the Laval Rocket coaching position, his true contribution remains unclear to many.

If Martin St-Louis decides to appoint an experienced coach, Lecavalier should also be heavily involved in this process and will be present at these interviews as well.

The question then becomes: Will Lecavalier be more present this year? Will he agree to move to Montreal to be closer to the action?

Despite criticism that his job is a comfort job, or even a “country club” for close management friends, Lecavalier seems to have heard the criticism and is ready to live up to expectations.

“My daughters play golf. It's a sport that involves a lot of tournaments and we always have to travel all over Florida.”

“For my guy, it's a team that always plays on the road, which means we travel a lot during the winter.”

“It's our way of working to achieve high-quality competition, and it's very different from what I experienced growing up in Quebec where you often played teams close to your city.”

However, Lecavalier insists he is committed to Canadians, even if that role appears at first glance to be very limited.

It's a relief to see him in Laval for interviews. At least we can say he's doing something. It's always easier to come to Quebec in the summer.

Lecavalier holds the title of Special Advisor for Hockey Operations. He is often asked to analyze potential players for trades or provide his expertise during the draft period. Lecavalier also serves as a resource for the organization's players as needed.

People increasingly began to question the specificity of his duties, suggesting that his position raised “any other relevant task.”

He's involved in recruiting, advising GMs, attending training camp, and contacting potential free agents, but the majority of that work is done from his home in Florida.

Lecavalier's presence during interviews for the Laval Rocket coaching position may indicate a desire to be more involved.

If he decides to move to Montreal, it could be a sign of a deeper and clearer commitment to the club's operations.

Either way, Lecavalier is clearly aware of the criticism and appears ready to prove his worth within the Canadiens organization.
