Tensions ran high during the third period of the showdown between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Florida Panthers on Sunday.
In the first seconds of the last period, Panthers forward Nick Cousins sent a big check from behind to Blue Jackets defender Erik Gudbranson. On the ground for a few seconds, Number 44 came off his joints, and rose to fight with his opponent.

The Cats players on the ice rose to defend their teammates, and things went in all directions.
However, the matter did not stop there. A few minutes later, Gudbranson took advantage of being on the ice at the same time as Cousins to send him another message. While the latter had just sent the puck deep into Columbus territory, the former literally grabbed his opponent to drop him to the ground. The Blue Jackets guard then punched Cousins several times.
During this final sequence, Gudbranson is ruled out of the game, using his final moments on the ice to discredit the entire bench.
Paul Morris’ men ended up winning 5 to 2.
