Windows 11 Preview – Canary Channel for the Windows Insider Program
For several days, a new preview of Windows 11 has been available on the Windows Insider Canary channel. Windows 11 Build 26212 introduces some new features but most of the work is focused on bug fixes.
The most notable feature concerns the sharing function with the ability to generate QR codes for URLs and links to files located on the cloud. The option is presented via the Windows Sharing window.
A dedicated button appears in the Edge toolbar, then “Sharing Options.” If your Microsoft account uses a Gmail address, you can now send emails to yourself from the Windows Sharing window and receive them in your Gmail account.
Many fixes and known bugs
In terms of bug fixes, they specifically target Copilot (one failure), taskbar and system tray (two issues), File Explorer (two errors), windows and other little things here and there including an issue that prevents advanced startup options from working and an issue that… Prohibits installation of features on demand (FOD).
Being on the Canary channel, this version of Windows 11 is not recommended for production PCs. It suffers from potential instability and some known bugs, details of which are provided below.
